Who do you want to win????

lief's Picture lief @ 01-22-2007 Saw Hillary Clinton on tv.

She was talking about her (now official) run for president in 2008. It was interesting how pleasant she was being when asked about her competition against Obama for the democratic nod.

I'm the first to stand up proudly and say I'm a republican, but in all fairness I also have trouble dogging Hillary. I had the opportunity to have a press breakfast with her in New York several years ago. She's an incredibly sharp woman. Many people don't know that she was the first female board director of Wal-Mart, and short of a cheating husband she's had an almost impeccible professional and private life.

I'd love for Hillary to get the democratic nod because I still don't think our country will vote a woman into office. And when we are ready, you'll know that it was me who voted for Condeleza!

I'll go you one better and say that I'm an unabased conservative. As to Hillary, no doubt she's smart. I would question your statement about an impeccible professional life. There is at the very least, some troubling aspects of some of her professional life that should prove entertaining fodder if she gets the nod. Another thing that I find interesting is that while she was the first female board member of Wal-Mart she is also now one of those who are quick to point at Wal-Mart and make demands of how they deal with their employees. I don't believe that Wal-Mart has changed their focus and values over the years...has Hill?

Sorry, make that unabashed.....too many keys!

Yes, and we could probably use a spell checker in this system. So Rammon, what do you think of governor Pawlenty's announcement about spending? I think they should take a portion of that $2 billion surplus and put it into early stage business funding in the state! I'm thinking of at least two businesses that could use the leverage. :)

I have to agree that I am glad Hillary taking a run at it but that also comes from an extreme Liberal. I think it would say a lot just for a woman to get the nod and I think that she might actually have a chance - it would be an interesting race either way. I am looking forward to a bit of a political shake up. As for her board position at Wal-Mart and her stand against their business practices - she may have taken the position to push for change which clearly didn't work and now she is taking her stand outside of the board room. Good for her!

Pawlenty is a key reason why I refuse to be labeled a Republican. It's becoming very difficult to tell the difference between he, Coleman and any number of liberals. As to the surplus...What surplus? He's spent it and then some with his new budget. I can't believe that he doesn't understand the implications of raising the budget by nearly 10%. Do you go and lock your family into 10% more annual spending based on a 1 time bonus? I've come to believe that most politicians fall into the extreme of "if you can't play, coach. If you can't coach, ref." ...they are like reffing supervisors!

It's obvious that you don't stand for "any way the wind blows" politics down there on Passing Wind Farm. My last comment is about taxes. They suck. When republicrats or democans increase budgets, it's more taxes. Can I get some people to raise their hands for Flat Tax? Rush should totally be on workface right now. : )

Rammon's Picture Rammon @ 01-24-2007

I actually heard a Democrat (wish I could remember who) advocate a flat tax within the last couple of days. Of course their perspective was that they were going to get more money by eliminating all the deductions so I don't think they actually understood the issue but we'll take the converts such as they are! Yes flat tax coupled with a constituional ammendent that limits the budget increases to inflation and population growth...that's actually too much money in most cases but it at least provides a bit of safety for us.

Rush was hillarious today. He was talking about the journalists all expecting the president to crumble during the address last night, and that didn't happen. In fact, one journalist said that a poll of those watching the address thought it favorable/better than expected. Funny that the "journalist" took the time to note that the address was "of those watching", like a poll of those "not watching" would have meant anything. I tell ya, if you can't stand behind a sitting president then stand for something, or anything. Again, republicrats and democans. Why have I not yet heard "Jesse V. for Prez"?

Rammon's Picture Rammon @ 01-24-2007

You've probably not heard Jesse V because people figured out what he was really about after the fact. Can you imagine him trying to handle negotiations in the Mideast? If people think Bush is a cowboy, how would they like Rambo with an anger problem?
